The Written Word Church of God is located at 808 28th Ave, Downtown Tuscaloosa, AL 35401. Elder Alice H. Latham is the church's pastor. The Written Word Ministry began in December of 1992 as the Latham Crusade Ministry which was later changed. The ministry first began ministering and spreading God’s word via radio. The ministry was incorporated as a church in 1993 and began evangelizing throughout the city of Tuscaloosa. The ministry began broadcasting The Written Word T.V Ministry on August 3, 1995.

Our vision at the Written Word Ministry is to  restore faith and hope in our district through the love of God and by spreading His message throughout the land. It is our hope and mission that we grow and flourish as a community under God. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 1:2

Our goal at The Written Word Ministry is to spread God's word while transforming lives and building dreams.

We are dedicated to delivering God's word, bringing our brothers and sisters to Christ, helping those who are lost establish and maintain a connection with our Savior.

I was born and raised in Holt Alabama. I am the eighth child born to David and Willie Hinton Hemphill. As a young child I recognized a deep yearning in my heart to learn more about people, their existence, and purposes on earth. With the desire and need to help and assist others a fire was sparked in me to enter the field of counseling.

However, later I recognized that what I thought was a spark was actually a higher calling from God. After accepting my calling, I furthered my education at Anderson School of Theology in Anderson, Indiana where I received a BA Degree in Church Ministries, and a MA Degree in Church Administration. In August of 2002, I receivved an Honorary Doctrane Degree for my profound studies in Theology.

Because of my undeniable love for people and my community God led and continues to lead and guide me into an outreach ministry of community service.

* Bible study for youths, parents, and other residents of the Mckenzie Court Community.
* A jail ministry that extends to local and out of town facilities, including visits, calls, and letter to the inmates.
* Personal service to home bound and disabled seniors.
* Fellowship programs for facilities such as Bryce Hospital, Juvenile Detention Center, Secure Medical Facility, and Partlow Development Center.
* Nuturing and developing children in outreach ministry as they visit other children who are hospital bound.
